Scholarships & Financial Aid

The Charleston Academy of Music commits itself to providing everyone with an equal opportunity to partake in all the benefits of the programs.
Scholarships are awarded based on financial need and musical merit.
Auditions are held throughout the year and require recommendations from either a CAM faculty member or school music teacher.

Honors Program Scholarships – Requirements

These scholarships are offered to students who meet all the requirements for the Honors Program at CAM.
Students must perform a successful audition in order to qualify. Students awarded these scholarships are required to participate in every aspect of the Honors Program.

Expectations of Honors Program Scholarship Recipients

The Student will make sure he/she arrives to lessons on time at proper location.
The Student must practice a minimum of 60 minutes per day.
The Student must not miss more than 2 lessons per semester.
The Student must participate in recitals, including: Student Recitals, Honors Recitals, Piccolo Spoleto Recitals, and Outreach Recitals.
The Student must attend Theory Classes, Chamber Music, and Masterclasses.
The Student must come prepared to each lesson.
The Student will show respect to his/her instructor.
The Student will contribute working/teaching for the Kidzymphony Orchestra Program.
The Parent/Guardian and/or the Student will give recognition to CAM and the Student’s instructor upon receiving any awards or media recognition.

Financial Aid - Requirements

Financial assistance is available for students who could not otherwise pursue studies at the academy. Only one student per household is eligible to receive Financial Aid.
Prospective students must demonstrate a clear commitment to music, be recommended by their teachers at school, and be interviewed by an Academy representative before being accepted into the program.
Students must show self evident progress throughout the academic year in order to be awarded financial aid for the following year.

Expectations of Financial Aid Recipients

The Student must not miss more than 2 lessons per semester.
The Student must participate in recitals.
The Student must attend monthly Performance Classes.
The Student must come prepared to each lesson.
The Student will show respect to his/her instructor.
