
Orchestra Program Director, Madeline List Hershenson is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music in New York with a Bachelor of Music degree in piano and a Master of Music in Education. Prior to her retirement in 2010, she taught for the past thirty-three years in the public schools both in New York and Charleston. She has conducted classes in string orchestra, chorus, band and general music from kindergarten to twelfth grade. Many of her students have won scholarships on their instruments and superior ratings at SCMEA events. She is also the founder and music director of the Jewish Choral Society, a community choir that has been at the Yaschik and Arnold Jewish Studies Program at College of Charleston for the past eleven years.
