February 2012

Dear Friends,

Looking ahead in 2012 the future looks bright! We are planning some enhancements on our programs and are excited for some funding opportunities finally materializing.

Realizing the depth and variety of expertise each instructor is bringing to the program, our group of piano teachers got together and discussed ways to enhance student experience in piano instruction. Inspired by model programs and starting this February, the group will implement a new routine in which for one week during the semester students will rotate to different instructors. The benefit is twofold: the students gain access to the different expertise each instructor has to offer while the instructors get feedback on the students’ progress from their colleagues.

Also, for our cello studio, Professor Natalia Khoma of CofC will assume a more hands-on role on the development of our young cellists, by meeting monthly with them and advising on their progress.

And, we are thrilled to announce that with generous support from the Coastal Community Foundation - Open Grant, and the SC Arts Commission we will be able to see our unique Kidzymphony Orchestra Program to continue to thrive at its current location, Meeting Street Academy!

Warm Regards,

Eunjoo Yun

Dear friends:

It has been such a joy for me to watch CAM's growth and accomplishments over the past 9 years – yet, I feel like this is only the beginning! Along with CAM’s growth, I confess, I have also grown and rediscovered myself and I am determined to continue to serve our community with programs that promote excellence and access, through music, for all of Lowcountry’s youth.

CAM has overcome obstacles and challenges and what we have done so far is truly extraordinary: we are not only teaching for the sake of teaching alone; we are making a positive impact in the lives and attitudes of children, parents, schools and entire communities. Today, over 200 students participate in our various programs realizing what is possible through the power of music.

I often like to imagine our neighborhoods as crates - where people are playing and making music together on the streets, in their homes, churches, and schools. At CAM, we intend to bring the joy of music to as many people as possible and hope that you will continue to be with us in this journey.

Sincerely,

Eunjoo Yun
