It has been a joy for me to watch CAM's growth and accomplishments over the past 7 years. On a personal note, I have also grown and rediscovered myself through this process and today, I have greater hope for future generations. I say this because I believe in the overall goodness of people and that we have something important to contribute and share while we are here. CAM has overcome obstacles and challenges and what we have done so far is truly extraordinary. We are not only teaching for the sake of teaching alone; we are making an impact in the attitudes of children and parents, helping them realize what they have and will accomplish through music: discipline, communication, concentration, team work and self confidence.
By the end of Spring 2009, CAM was 206 students and 20 teachers strong. 25 of the 206 students received scholarships. Several students were accepted into prestigious schools and universities throughout the country. I could go on and on about our wonderful students!
And what about our teachers? They are the inspiration for our students and the key to our success. Certainly they are proud of their work and talent but they have also remained humble and grounded.
I often imagine driving through our neighborhoods where people are playing and making music together.on the streets, in their homes, churches, schools. At CAM, we intend to bring the joy of music to as many people as possible and hope that you will be with us in this journey.
