Rachmaninoff: Corelli Variations

Sasha Starcevich has given recitals at New York’s Carnegie Recital Hall, Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Hall, Windsor Castle, and in London’s Wigmore Hall. His solo recital there in May of 2002 was met with much critical acclaim, and a review in the Musical Opinion wrote: “The repertoire was brilliantly conceived; a thoroughly enjoyable recital at every level”. He has performed with orchestras throughout Canada, the United States, Europe, China and also toured Russia with the Samara Philharmonic Orchestra, and has performed at several international festivals such as the Henley Festival in England and Holder’s Season in Barbados. Starcevich has recorded for CBS Television and has released two CDs under the Britstar and the Jacques Samuel Label labels.

Charleston’s own Micah McLaurin is one of the outstanding young pianists of his generation. He has appeared as soloist with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Orquesta Filarmonica de Montevideo, Orquesta Juvenil de El Salvador, the Charleston Symphony, the Hilton Head Symphony, the Youth Orchestra of the LowCountry, and the South Carolina Philharmonic, and has performed all over the U.S. and in Europe. Micah has won top prizes in the Ettlingen International Competition for Young Pianists in Germany, the Thomas and Evon Cooper International Piano Competition, the Arthur Fraser International Piano Competition, the Hilton Head International Young Artists Competition and the IIYM International Piano Competition.

Raquel Boldorini is a prize winner in the Vercelli (Italy), Recife (Brazil), Viña del Mar (Chile), Lalewicz (Argentina) and Aspen (USA) Competitions. She has performed in all the important cities of Latin America, the USA (including Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center), Salle Cortot in Paris, Wigmore Hall in London, and tours Europe almost every season. As a soloist, she played with the major orchestras in South America, the USA and Europe. She has taught in the National Conservatory in Montevideo and has given master classes all over the world. A recording of South American composers has been released with much acclaim by the Organization of American States. This is Ms. Boldorini’s third appearance in Charleston.

No stranger to Charleston audiences, Sean Kennard has won top prizes in the Queen Elisabeth, Viña del Mar, Hilton Head, Sendai, Iowa and Vendome International Competitions, the National Chopin Competition and the American Pianists Association. Kennard has soloed with Japan’s NHK Chamber Orchestra, the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, the Yamagata Symphony Orchestra, the Sendai Philharmonic, the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre National de Belgique and Orchestre Royal de Chambre in Belgium, the German Chamber Orchestra of Frankfurt am Main, the Orchestre Philharmonique du Maroc, Orquesta Sinfonica de Chile, Orquesta Filarmónica de Montevideo, Sinfonia Perugina, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and the orchestras of Charleston, Sioux City and Honolulu.
